Farm-to-table e-commerce platform

Keystone Ranch is a regenative agriculture business that focuses on producing products of excellent nutrition and fantastic taste. These two factors go hand-in-hand and the process starts with the soil. A healthy soil is filled with diverse set of minerals and has ample organic matter. The plants that grow in that soil require those minerals to become nutritious. The better the mineral make-up in the soil the more nutritous the plants will be and the more nutritous the plants the healthier the animal will be that grazes upon those plants. A healthy animal produces a more flavourful nutritous meat for our bodies.

This is why Keystone Ranch raises bison - what are referred to as a keystone species. This means that when bison are present in an ecosystem, the entire ecosystem flourishes, they act as the stone that holds the archway in place. This can be demonstrated by the 2000 insects that live off of one bison. These insects break down the manure patties, and also feed the birds, which then use bison wool to insulate their nests. The list goes on. This style of farming, is a not only a mindset, but a way of life that is applied throughout the farm to all animals present.

This way of farming is naturally more expemsive but results in a better produce and a farm that is better for the environment. Keystone ranch needed a platform to educate people on the value of its products and make them convient to purchase. An e-commerce platform was created to sell its products. Complete with subscription options for returning customers, and shipping capabilities for non-perishable products.

The website was branded to have a premium, but relaxed feel. The images were taken directly on the farm showing customers what they were supporting with their purchases. A semi-regular newsletter was created updating customers of the ongoings of the farm, the things going wrong and the little wins of the company. The images and updates made customers feel part of the farm, always wanting to hear more when produce deliveries were brought to their door.

The e-commerce platform also allowed the company to expand its product lines to include complimentary natural products made by Canadian producers. Expanding product lines encouraged new customers and increased sales.

Lastly, the website helped Keystone Ranch in hosting events, encouraging customers to come experience the farm via the online booking platform.
